“Bestiario vol.1” is the first vinyl effort for the italian percussionist Enrico Malatesta and first for Second Sleep too. Living in Cesena, Malatesta studies classical percussion instruments in “Bruno Maderna” conservatory; although his pitch is strictly academic, what always impressed me was his extreme phisicality and “punk” attitude he has in everything.He collaborated with other percussionist like Christian Wolfarth and Seijiro Murayama and what Enrico offer here are two side of short, fast and dynamic structured pieces, decise hissing sounds collide with more delicated touches, all played with a great amount of attention and dedication. A sacred aura is given to these tracks because of the place where they were recorded, the wonderful Teatro Valdoca in Cesena, mastered by Stefano Pilia. [second sleep]
“Bestiario” is a series of short compositions for acoustic percussion only, played and recorded live, without editing and overdubs.
The three volumes (always in vinyl) will be release from the italian labels SecondSleep, Xhol and Senufo Editions.
